Medical Ultrasound Screening

We also use private ultrasound tests for a range of diagnostic imaging purposes. That means we can diagnose a number of health conditions in the organs and soft tissue in the body using this technology.

This includes problems affecting the heart, blood vessels, liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas, kidneys, bladder, testicles, breasts, uterus, ovaries, prostate, and thyroid.

Rather than the simple snap-shot that you get with an x-ray, a medical ultrasound provides detailed 3D images in real-time. Your Bolton doctor can see your heart beating, muscles contracting, and arteries pumping blood around your body on their screen; making diagnosis of many issues easier than ever.

Your private ultrasound scan at Parkhill

Because ultrasounds use high frequency soundwaves to create your scan, they are an entirely pain-free procedure.

When you come in for your appointment at our Greater Manchester surgery, you’ll be met by our consultant radiologist and healthcare team. You’ll be able to ask them any questions or queries you may have before your scan.

Depending on the area of the body we’re scanning, your appointment should only take between fifteen minutes and half an hour. Your Bolton doctor will spread a clear jelly over the treatment area which works to transmit the soundwaves to the ultrasound probe.

They’ll then run the probe back and forth over your skin and the scan will appear on the monitor. You’ll be able to see the monitor throughout your scan and your radiologist may also explain what you’re seeing during the procedure.

In other cases, they may need to analyse the scan in more detail and send a report on their findings to your GP. We’ll let you know when your results will be ready before you leave.

Parkhill are here for your professional medical ultrasound scans and treatment.
