Postural assessment – It is important to maintain good sitting posture and avoid sitting for prolonged periods, whether at work/driving or watching television at home.One of the contributing factors of chronic conditions such as low back back/neck problems is bad posture. Neurodynamics exercises (exercises to improve nerve function) – It is important for your nerves to move freely without any pain or irritation. Irritation or impeded nerve function can result in pain or limited range of movement. Nerve dysfunction can be caused by a number of things such as trauma, poor posture, post surgery and repetitive movements. Some of the common conditions that cause neural tension include low back pain (slipped vertebrae disc), sciatica, shoulder pain, neck pain, carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow.
Spinal/joint mobilisations and manipulations – Spinal/joints mobilisations reduce inflammation, encourage blood circulation to the injured site and break up any adhesions to the injured site in order to improve range of motion and reduce pain levels. Typically they are five grades of movements ranging from Grade I to Grade V, to restore normal joint motion and pain relief.
Spinal manipulations are performed to treat neck and back pain and restore limited joint movement and normal elasticity to muscles and other soft tissues. Both mobilisations and manipulations may involve small movements at the joint but they allow the whole body to function correctly and reduce pain.
Kinesiology taping – Kinesiology or K-taping is a colourful, thin, stretchy sports tape that sticks to the body and has a therapeutic effect to the area applied. This tape can be applied to sport injuries, musculoskeletal conditions and inflammatory conditions. There is also a psychological element that is associated with its usefulness and in some cases it has been known to improve sports performance.

Electrotherapy (Acupuncture/electro-acupuncture , TENS machines, Ice and heat packs) – Electrotherapy can be used to reduce pain and encourage natural healing process via increase in energy stimulated by low intense electrical current, light, sound and temperature. However the therapeutic effects of these modalities are short term and can also be used in combination with other modalities for optimum benefits. We deliver acupuncture/electro-acupuncture (see more information below), transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation (TENS) machine, ice and heat packs as pain relief modalities.
Stretching/strengthening video based exercises – Whether you are an athlete or not flexibility is important to enhance muscle elasticity and muscle tone. The benefits of stretching are to improve muscle control and reduce the risk of injury and delayed onset muscle soreness. Many conditions may result in muscle shortening and limited range of motion and require stretching exercises.
Muscle weakness is common is most medical conditions or may be caused by lack of exercises/reduced mobility. You either use your muscles or you lose them if you do not use them, therefore it is important to exercises regularly and eat a balanced diet. The recommended daily exercises for 19-64 aged group is at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity of aerobic exercises everyday and muscle strengthening activities for at least twice a week.
Nutritional advice – It is important to eat a balance diet consisting of macro and micronutrients and exercise regularly in order to stay fit and healthy. Lack of a balanced diet can lead to health threatening conditions such as obesity, cardiovascular disease, diabetes and osteoporosis.
